Sharlene McGowan is an education writer and editor working in both United States and Canada. She regularly receives writing and editing contracts with Pearson Education, Scholastic, Canadian Geographic, McGraw-Hill Ryerson, as well as other educational publishing firms. She is also an educator with over twenty-five years of experience, teaching in the public education system since 1985 and at two separate universities in recent years. She developed a highly successful high school program for at- risk youth which is still in operation and has seen students through to graduation.
